We are thrilled to be able to now launch for sale our 2017 Allen Meadows Burghound Symposium. This intense, but varied collection of masterclasses and dinner events, combines fun with the chance to gain or deepen your understanding of Burgundy. We will fly leading Burgundy critic and writer Allen Meadows (and “Mrs Burghound too!) to Hong Kong to lead all of the events in this programme.
Allen Meadow’s 2017 programme in Hong Kong is once again exclusive to The Fine Wine Experience.
There is much to learn about this complex yet rewarding fine wine region, and Allen’s expertise, his complete fluency in the subject, and his ability to teach, to lead, and to moderate discussion offer much to both the novice and the experienced aficionado.
But we have also spent many months meticulously sourcing just the right bottles – the right vineyards, vintages, and domaines with the right provenance – to show top level Burgundy in its diversity and depth.
Hedonism and learning combine!
The programme takes in a range of subjects with a nicely varied selection of cuisines at leading Hong Kong dining venues. Yet all this is scheduled within a short enough space of time, that both Hong Kongers and international guests alike can schedule any selection of events, or indeed the entire programme into their diaries.
This year we are joined by a number of leading Burgundians to enhance the experience — Laurence Mortet (Domaine Denis Mortet), Claude Dugat (Domaine Dugat), Guillaume Rouget (Domaine Emmanuel Rouget), Gerard Harmand (Domaine Harmand-Geoffory) and Charles van Canneyt (Domaine Hudelot-Noellat), each of whom will participate alongside Allen Meadows in key events.
The headline summary of events is listed below. Click through for details or view online.
Many of these events are very small in scale, so we recommend you book early as possible to avoid disappointment.
We also offer special hotel rate at Deluxe Peak View Room at Island Shangri-la Hotel with HKD 2,500+10% service charge per night. This offer is subject to availability and only valid for bookings made through The Fine Wine Experience for the participants of Burghound Symposium 2017 events, please contact us via sales@finewineexperience.com or +852 2803 0753 for booking.
Join us for an intimate dinner hosted by The Fine Wine Experience together with Allen Meadows, and special guest from the domaine, Laurence Mortet. The sole focus for this evening is a deep vertical of their, and the village’s most illustrious and important vineyard – Chambertin. Not only will tonight’s collection of this wine reveal so much about the DNA of this grand cru vineyard – the twists and turns of vintages, and the evolution of the wine in bottle – but also the story of this great family domaine. We stretch back to the wines of Denis’ father – Charles Mortet in the 1980s. We cover the full career of Denis Mortet himself, who raised the domaine’s reputation to the lofty heights it continues to enjoy today, and we cover the wines of his son, Arnaud Mortet. Three generations, one great vineyard, over one, surely memorable, evening together in Hong Kong.
The Mortet parcel of Chambertin amounts to just 4 ouvrees, or 0.15ha, planted in 1955/1957, to tell the whole of this story.
