We are thrilled to be able to now launch The Fine Wine Experience Burghound Symposium 2023 programme. This intense, but varied collection of masterclass, walkaround, and dinner events, combine fun with the chance to gain or to deepen your understanding of Burgundy. We are flying leading Burgundy critic and writer Allen Meadows (and 'Mrs. Burghound' too!) to Hong Kong, as well as a number of Burgundy producers, some familiar, some new.
There is much to learn about this complex yet rewarding fine wine region of Burgundy. Allen’s expertise, his complete fluency in the subject, and his ability to teach, to lead, and to moderate discussion offer much to both the novice and the experienced aficionado.
The Fine Wine Experience Burghound Symposium ran in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019, before our March 2020 programme was cancelled due to the arrival of Covid-19. So, we are thrilled to be back in March 2023! We are so looking forward to seeing you at these events!
So too are a number of Burgundy producers who are also flying in to Hong Kong to join us. We look forward to welcoming Antoine & Prune Amiot (Domaine Amiot-Servelle), Didier Amiot (Domaine Didier Amiot), Jean-Luc Pépin (Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé), Christophe Perrot-Minot & Marit Lindal (Domaine Perrot-Minot), Catharina & Guilhem Sadde (Les Horées), Bastian Wolber (Laisse Tomber), and Maxime Ullens (Domaine de Marzilly, Champagne).
Many of these events are very small in scale, so we recommend you book as early as possible to avoid disappointment. Act now and contact us via events@finewineexperience.com or +852 2803 0753 for booking.
with special guest: Jean-Luc Pépin
One of the finest and most ancient domaines in Burgundy, emblematic of the noble finesse of Chambolle-Musigny, Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé is the largest owner of Musigny Grand Cru. From this vineyard they produce three wines – the red Musigny Grand Cru Cuvée Vieilles Vignes, their Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru (exclusively from Musigny from young vines less than 25 years old), and Musigny Blanc. Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru, Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses 1er Cru, and Chambolle-Musigny (a villages-level label that includes some 1er Cru Baudes and Fuées) complete the unrivaled Chambolle-Musigny collection.
Unique in its long history, tracing its beginnings to the 15th century with ownership passing through 20 generations to the present proprietors, in 1925 it was inherited by Comte Georges de Vogüé, who ran the domaine for 52 years, and is now owned by his granddaughters, Claire de Causans and Marie de Ladoucette.Today it is managed by Eric de Bourgogne (vineyard), Jean Lupatelli (winemaking*), and Jean-Luc Pépin (commercial & administration). *François Millet was winemaker, 1986~2021.
This evening we will deepen our understanding of three key terroirs – Musigny Grand Cru, Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru, and Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru ‘Les Amoureuses’, by seeing each of them in a range of vintage styles and levels of cellar maturity. The four vintages for each wine are the same, so we will be able to make direct comparisons each time. We also begin with the rare 1991 Musigny Blanc. This promises a fascinating and enjoyable evening of discovery, led in person by Jean-Luc Pépin.
