Domaine Berthaut-Gerbet has been a family-owned domaine now for seven generations, based in Fixin, run today by father and daughter team Denis and Amélie Berthaut. By the 2014 vintage, Amélie’s father had passed on the winemaking responsibilities to her, and she is continuing to take on more responsibilities.

The domaine comprises 16 hectares of vineyards in the villages of Fixin, Gevrey-Chambertin, Chambolle-Musigny, Vougeot, and Vosne-Romanée. The vineyards are a combination of those inherited through her father’s family, Domaine Denis Berthaut, as well as part of the vineyards from her mother’s side, Domaine François Gerbet. Her father and mother each managed separate family domains.

The vines are cultivated with respect for the environment, without chemical weedkillers, but with tillage. Their wines are distinguished by a powerful bouquet, elegance, and great finesse. At The Fine Wine Experience, we enjoy these wines, and I think they should be on any Burgundy lover’s radar.
