As Burgundy has become a favourite region for a growing number of wine enthusiasts worldwide, prices in recent years have soared. So, is it still possible to find ‘value’ in Burgundy?
Join me at this masterclass on Finding Good Value in Red Burgundy, as we explore a range of wines priced HKD 500 or less per bottle, and covering a wide range of producers, styles, and Burgundy villages. Let’s find out!
For while it is true that the 1er Cru and even village level wines from the most exalted villages like Vosne-Romanée and Puligny-Montrachet are now expensive, it is also true that we are living in the best time ever for Burgundy quality. And while global warming is broadly speaking a negative trend for our planet, at a micro level in Burgundy it has led to some cooler terroirs – traditionally less favoured – now enjoying some of their best growing seasons ever. When we spread our repertoire of villages wider than the ultra classics we know, we are often rewarded with delicious wines. Indeed, many young vignerons, priced out of the chance to make wine in the most famous terroirs, are applying their skills and effort to these once forgotten appellations.
So, that’s what we are going to experience this evening at this wine tasting masterclass. This event, open to all our Fine Wine Experience customers, will take place at the newly opened Club Bâtard in the Pedder Building. I hope you can join me in this search for good value in red Burgundy.
