Much like a boy who has been given a new ray gun for his birthday, I am
super excited about these freshly-landed wines from Domaine Arnaud
Lambert. The Chenin Blanc is crisp, dry and precise, and the Cabernet
Franc is fragrant, fresh and elegant. These wines hail from the Loire
Valley’s up and coming regions – Brézé, Saumur and Saumur-Champigny.
(You may already know these appellations from the other champion domaine of the region – Clos Rougeard).

The wines are organic, single-vineyard bottlings capturing the nuances
of different soils and sites, much like in Burgundy.

Lambert is not aiming for maximum fatness and power. Rather his priority
is precision and tension between fruit and acidity, with the acidity
pushing the finish to a long, lingering aftertaste. Re-tasting the range
recently confirmed the delivery of that approach wine after wine. These
are super satisfying, clear as a bell wines offering true nuance site by
site. They are incredibly food-friendly.

While we are in the Loire, we also have a great Gamay wine from Domaine
Sérol to share with you. This domaine is a couple of hours’ drive west
of Beaujolais in the Côte Roannaise (in Hong Kong-speak that's the
region surrounding the 3 Michelin-starred paradise Trois Gros! Indeed,
Domaine Sérol make a wine in partnership with that restaurant). The
region is cooler, and the grapes later picked – typically in October –
giving a vibrant, very fresh taste.

As The Fine Wine Experience team tasted through these new arrivals
recently, we all collectively thought that we wished we had some cheese!
And the idea for this event was hatched, for there is no better place to
go for cheese than Upper Modern Bistro (or its sister restaurant in
LKF). At this restaurant, cheese selection, affinage, and service are at
their best.

vibrant Loire Valley wines from Domaine Arnaud Lambert and Domaine
Sérol, accompanied by some fine cheeses, at Upper Modern Bistro.
