Likely one of the best value wine regions is the Rhône Valley because of the high quality, diversity of wines and their ability to age well. With this tasting, we will just focus on the Northern Rhône. Our 2018s from Domaine Georges Vernay and Maison Paul Jaboulet Aîné are in, so come join us to taste and to learn about them.
Domaine Georges Vernay is best known for their richly perfumed yet elegant Condrieu and for Georges Vernay’s efforts and success in helping to save the appellation of Condrieu from extinction. The white from Maison Paul Jaboulet Aîné will be completely different to the white from Georges Vernay offering a weightier and glycerol-like feel on the palate with the grapes being Marsanne and Roussane.
For the reds, we will focus primarily on Syrah with one wine in the lineup also containing a bit of Viognier, and it will also be the only 2017 we will taste. It’s the Côte-Rôtie 'Blonde du Seigneur' from Domaine Georges Vernay and will demonstrate just how well made the reds at this domaine are now too. The discussion of 2018 reds will be showcased primarily through the wines of Maison Paul Jaboulet Aîné, a name most famous for their legendary Hermitage ‘La Chapelle’. Whether you are already a fan of the Northern Rhône or are looking for some wines for your upcoming spring barbecues and seafood lunches, this tasting will offer a delicious way to spend your Saturday afternoon.
