We are welcoming you back to our lounge with jazz this June. We are looking forward to seeing you on our first Jazz Night (Returns!) on 1st June from 10:30 p.m. – 12 midnight. We will transform our buzzing restaurant Bâtard into a cozy, relaxed Jazz Lounge. The entry ticket is HKD 320 per person with only limited seats, so grab your tickets now. For this Jazz Night, our favourite guitarist Alan Kwan will return to our Lounge with his newly formed band 'Invisible Architecture'. 'Invisible Architecture' is nominated for Taiwan’s 33rd Golden Melody Awards including Best Instrumental Album, Best Instrumental Composer, Best Instrumental Album Producer and Best Instrumental Recording Album. They are some of Hong Kong’s finest jazz musicians representing the younger generation of talent who are taking this genre to new heights, so you are in for a real treat.

About Alan Kwan and 'Invisible Architecture'

Leading his newly formed band 'Invisible Architecture', Alan Kwan will be bringing us music from his 2022 album 'Between Now and Never'. The HK lineup features drummer Padget FRE$H K!D Nanton III, bassist Rayvaugh Covington, saxophonist Scott Murphy, and pianist/keyboardist Ricky Wong.

Featured on JAZZIZ Magazine's 'Album of the day' (13 February, 2022), Matt Micucci writes -
On Between Now or Never... Its music is a fusion of ambient and electronica with the expressive vocabulary of modern jazz. Its modus operandi was also quite different. Emerging at the height of the pandemic and its collateral travel restrictions, Between Now or Never necessitated the development of ideas and concepts into full-length tracks over a continuous remote exchange of digital files between all three band members.

The band’s name, Invisible Architecture, is a reference to Italian author Italo Calvino’s influential Invisible Cities. Much like that 1972 novel, Between Now and Never is an expression of the exploration between imagination and the imaginable. Individual tracks like “Destinesia,” “Drop Spot” and “Pulse” stand out with their catchy melodies and harmonies. However, the record is essentially designed as a journey to be experienced from start to finish, as individual tracks blend into one whole. “To me, a good album is like a good book,” says Kwan. “Of course, a good book has good individual chapters but a good book is also one that has you reading from beginning to the end.”
