Catharina Sadde is without a doubt one of Burgundy’s rising stars. This talented and inspiring young winemaker from Germany created Les Horées in 2018 accompanied by her husband Guilhem. The name "Les Horées" is in reference to the Greek festivities celebrating the seasons.
Catharina released her first vintage in 2019 and immediately fell on burgundy lovers' radar. The domaine has 1.3ha of vineyards in Pommard, Volnay and Beaune, planted with Chardonnay, Aligoté, Pinot Noir and Gamay. Everything in the vineyard is done manually with care, including horse ploughing and following biodynamics principles. In the cellar, vinification is carried out without sulphites, using only natural yeasts. A slight dose of sulphur is added before bottling.
Academically trained at Geisenheim, one of the most renowned wine schools in Germany, Catharina completed her training at some of Burgundy’s finest domaines: Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Comte Armand, Cecile Tremblay, Marquis d'Angerville,...
Before joining her dream adventure in Burgundy, Catharina began her career as a chef in several Michelin starred restaurants in Germany. But she left the stove to embark on her devouring passion for wine.
