On 25 January, join us in our shop for a tutored tasting of two great Burgundy Domaines, lead by the producers themselves – François Carillon from Domaine François Carillon, and Claire Fleurot from Domaine Coquard-Louison-Fleurot (or “CLF” as we sometimes refer to it).
The Carillon family has been farming in Puligny-Montrachet since the 16th century, and that is where today, François Carillon makes some of the most clear-cut, pure, intense, yet, elegant Puligny-Montrachets today. Domaine Coquard-Loison-Fleurot is gaining quite a buzz lately. The wines used to disappear into négocients’ labels making the domaine a bit anonymous. But, today Claire Fleurot and Thomas Colladot are forging a reputation for high quality domaine-made, domaine-labelled wines. And wow, what an impressive list of Côte de Nuits land holdings they enjoy! Thomas, friends with Sebastian Cathiard (Domaine Sylvain Cathiard), makes wines in a similar style.
These are two domaines well worth watching and learning about, especially as values have remained so reasonable for the quality. Come learn first hand, and taste with the owners of these two estates.
NB – we will start on time at 6:30 p.m., so please do your best to arrive prior so as not to miss anything from François Carillon.
